2011 has not been a very active year for the hip hop industry of Bangladesh, there were no significant releases from most mainstream crews and the prominent underground hip hop crews did not rise up to take the upper hand of the scene. Well, all of those is going to change now, one of the best underground crews ‘Lyrical Assassins’ has released a single with Skibkhan(If you are a Bangladeshi Hip Hop Fan, then this name requires no introduction), the track is called ‘Struggle’.
When Lyrical Assassins announced the release of a track with Skibkhan, a bomb was expected by Bangladeshi Hip Hop Listeners as a whole, but to be honest, this track exceeded all expectations, this one turned out to be better than expected! You can call this track ‘Flawless’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Awesome’, ‘The Best’, ‘Legendary’, ‘Realest’, etc. but the truth is, words can never truly define this track, ITS THAT GOOD!
The track starts with a very mellow touch, and just when it seems that the violin tune is going to go on forever, the beat picks up with Skibkhan’s words coming from the background. After the intro hooks by Golam and Skibkhan; RGB’s verse starts, RGB’s verse starts with a very aggressive approach, with the first part of his verse in Bengali and the rest in English, the lyrics were deep, the flow was brilliant, and the linguistic shift from Bengali to English was perfect.
PiNG’s verse start with the lyrics describing a real incident (The death of a teenager in his girlfriend’s house), the verse is based upon the corruption within the government; describing the aspects of corruption, while his conclusions were backed up by real life incidents (Like the mention of the BDR mutiny in the verse). Respect to this young artist for coming up with such real words.
The third verse of the track was by Golam, Golam’s verse was more fast-paced than his usual verses. The words were surprisingly real and when they are spit with Golam’s usual flare; they combine together to form a sensational verse.
After Golam’s verse ends, you know that its time for Skibkhan’s Verse!! AND DAMN!!!! WHAT A VERSE BY SKIBKHAN!!! This guy was born to write poetry and spit them with a god-gifted flow, too bad that he was in an undeveloped Hip Hop scene like ours, otherwise, he would have been one of the superstars of world music (The haters will strongly disagree, but if you are a hater then I am not asking for your opinions). The whole verse is in English, the whole flow and lyrics is so perfect that it almost seemed like that his words were married to the beat, the verse shifted with the shift of the beat, creating a mesmerizing ambience.
The perfect beat, the perfect verses, the perfect hooks, the perfect everything. This track is undoubtedly one of the best ever tracks produced by the BD Hip Hop Industry, a track that has the potential to cross national boundaries and hype up international borders. If you are NOT a hip hop fan, I would strongly recommend you to download this track because this is one of those tracks that has the potential to turn Hip Hop Haters into Lovers.
