Not only was the movie, Agneepath, but even its item song, Chikni Chameli, was highly awaited by movie buffs. So it didn’t come as a surprise when we saw the mind boggling hits the song and its teaser have received in the last few days. The opinion about Kat’s rustic high-energy moves is divided but that is only helping the makers of Agneepath in building up hype around the film. The song is a Hindi adaptation of a superhit Marathi song Kombadi palali composed by music director-duo, Ajay-Atul. Many are hailing this item song Bollywood’s answer to the hit Tamil song, Why this kolaveri di? Others are calling it Katrina’s conspiracy to steal the thunder from Jungli billi, Priyanka Chopra, who was trending a few days ago. Singer Shreya Ghoshal, who has lent her vocals to this Katrina number, is also being appreciated; especially since it’s a pleasant change from Sunidhi Chauhan, who is the voice for most of the item songs in B-town. Many are also comparing Kat’s moves to Madhuri Dixit’s Hum ko aaj kal and Helen’s mungla. In any case, Karan Johar is probably rubbing his hands in glee, because as a producer, the song is turning out to be a total ‘paisa wasool’ venture for him.
